Update

Ok, so i’ve been MIA again for a while, but not a whole lot has changed.

The BBS is prospering, it’s definitely the place to go if you have any specific questions about anything you see on this site. As much as i appreciate emails, my responses would definitely lack the depth of information that’s available there.

One thing of note is that i have removed my intercooler due to a possible leak of some sort, but the car is actually running better without it, which doesn’t suprise me one bit. After all, and intercooler is a restriction in the intake.

I have some more exciting stuff coming up early next year, it should be pretty cool.

Missing In Action

Ok, so i haven’t posted for 4 months, sorry about that.

Truth is, i have nothing to post about. When you pick up a new toy, or hobby, how often do people stay with it for four years or more? Not often. Truth is that the car runs, though not as well as i’d like, but it gets me to work in comfort and that is all i care about right now. The boost problems i’m having are annoying, i’d like to get over .07 BAR, but it just doesn’t want to go.

I also purchased a 98 Yamaha Virago 1100 a few months ago, and am considering dropping over $1000 into it with pipes, seat and carb work.

I have no intention of taking down this site, or the bbs in the forseeable future, no matter how much my interest in the car wanes. If i do decide to part with it, i’ll leave it in good hands.

Four Years?

I just realized that this site has been around for over four years.

Wow.

Thanks for everyone that’s every visited, I hope you went away happy and came back for more.

Site Updates

Well Dave has updated server hosting and changed the domain name forwarding to be the actual address http://www.legacycentral.org

I’m also in the process of updating my site. I know it’s long overdue, but I’m working on it. If you have any suggestions, drop me a line.

A Few New Things

I’ve replaced my alternator, but that didn’t to a whole lot really. I think my idle is set a little too low, and that’s why the lights are dimming at stoplights.

I’ve obtained a new set of wheels, in exchange for my old RS wheels and tires. They’re a set of Prodrive P7s made by Speedline. They’re one of the first sets that was ever put on an Impreza, back in 98 or 99, and i had the chance to take them from a friend who’s selling his early 89 2.5RS.

News

Not a lot new, but i have resolved a problem with the car that was really getting on my nerves: Hesitation.

I replaced my Denso Iridium spark plugs with some NGK V-Powers and the terrible hesitation i had before is now completely gone. The #1 Denso was a bit scorched, so i think it had a bit too much heat. Thankfully spark plug replacement with my intake is a lot easier, as i don’t have to disassemble the whole intake system to get to the plugs.

I still need to get some higher-rate springs for the rear of the car, as the 6kg TEINs aren’t enough for my heavy wagon. I’ll probably also get a new set on the front to make a set of 8kg, which is what TEIN equips their current series wagons with.

I still do want to get some new wheels/tires for the summer, as the current set i have would do perfectly for a seasonal setup. It’s too bad that the Rotas have such a bad offset for the Legacy.

Update?

Well, not a thing going on with the car for the last few months. When it gets cold, it just gets driven…

I am approaching 127,000 miles, and the 2.5 year mark for ownership of the wagon. It’s almost paid for too!

New Legacy-Specific Site

Derek has started up a new site specifically for the Legacy Crowd, all generations, and it’s already looking good. He’s got big plans and would like you all to take a look around and to make suggestions on how to make it better.

He’s got a bunch of links to articles i’ve written under the Performance/Aftermarket Parts links, which is very cool.

Go visit and tell him what you think: Club-L

TEIN HAs, etc

Well, i’ve been through more suspensions than almost anyone i know, and i’m closer to bliss with my newest setup than ever before. I was considering going back to a stock-like setup after my disappointment with the DMS 40s, but a set of TEIN HAs came along at an unbeatable price, so i decided that i had nothing to lose.

I’ve put together some of my thoughts on this new setup versus what i’ve used in the past over here. I wrote this before my install, and i hope to follow it up with another document that describes the install and impressions afterwards.

FYI, the DMS 40s are being returned from Lachute Subaru in Quebec. DMS Australia themselves recommended Lachute for the best service in North America, and indeed Mark had all four of them rebuilt in as-new condition within 24 hours. Terribly impressive. I’m going to either sell the DMS or trade them for a set of wheels and tires.

The BBS has been a great success so far, with more than 80 users in less than 15 days. I’m glad i can give the BC-BF crowd a nice place to discuss their cars that’s easy on the eyes and the nerves.

I also replaced two axles and one CV boot recently.

New Stuff

It was a busy weekend, this weekend, with the Cobb Tuning Grand Opening in Salt Lake City. There was a really large turnout for the event and i think everyone had a really good time seeing the facilities, talking to the staff and seeing the TeamSMR USTCC car. I put together a slideshow of the event and the drive after over here.

I also raced the RX-7 on Sunday in the last event of our season and again took 1st in SM2, this time against a turbo Miata, turbo MR2 and supercharged MR2 in what is very close to a stock 1984 RX-7. Very fun.

The BBS is going very, very well, and i’d like to thank all of you for your support of it and your input. I’m sure it’ll be a success.

Zak sent me some information and pictures of his 1993 Sport Sedan, which i’ve thrown together into a page for you all to check out: Zak.

Finally, Jake from Melbourne informed me that he’s started up an RS Owners club. They had their first cruise last week (pictures) and it was a great time. For those RS owners out there, they have their own Liberty RS Turbo Yahoo Groups board.
